About the Role: We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Edge Platform team. In this role, you will help make our platform accessible for integration by external teams, systems, and platforms. You will be responsible for building, maintaining, and integrating 3rd Party BMS/BAS systems and communication protocols for JLLT edge gateways and applications.
Responsibilities:
- Develop integrations of 3rd Party BMS/BAS systems and communication protocols for JLLT edge gateways and applications.
- Create operational tools to support project implementation and building onboarding activities such as discovery, scanning, and provisioning.
- Perform discovery, scanning, and provisioning as part of project implementation to onboard buildings to the JLLT Smart Building Platform.
- Research, analyze, and develop 3rd Party Cloud API and IoT integrations.
- Participate in developing technical assessments of 3rd Party BMS/BAS systems and open/proprietary protocols.
- Collaborate closely with Project Implementation and Project Engineering teams, providing consultancy on various RFPs.
- Assess and analyze L3 issues, ensuring SLA requirements are met, and work with internal and external teams to resolve these issues.
- Develop test cases, scripts, and test harnesses to automate various QA tasks.
- Conduct network traffic analysis to troubleshoot performance and connectivity issues using tools like Wireshark, tcpdump, and iperf.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of engineering and/or development experience related to BMS/BAS solutions.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in building/industrial/IoT automation development.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Python and scripting languages like PowerShell and Bash.
- Strong experience with MQTT, REST, Distributed Computing, and Message-Driven Development.
- Proficient with BMS/BAS protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, OPC DA/UA, LON, Tridium/Niagara, and Trend IQ.
- Experience with AWS PaaS products or other cloud providers is highly desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and strong critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to analyze complex problems, break them down, and deliver effective solutions.
